What attracted you to instructing Pilates?

I am a fitness fanatic, but 7 years ago I found myself burning out and getting sick after over-exercising with high-intensity forms of exercise. I gave Pilates a go and it’s the only form of exercise I can do, most days of the week and end up feeling better and not worse!

After endless months of me obsessively talking about Pilates to anyone who would listen, my parents suggested I look into getting in teaching. Since then, it has continued to be a passion, whether that be teaching before or after my full-time work, or when not instructing, maintaining my own practice and encouraging friends and family to give it a go.

What do you do when you’re not teaching Pilates?

I have just moved to Launceston, so at the moment I am spending my free time exploring and getting my bearings! You’ll most likely find me walking with my boyfriend with a coffee in hand, getting some fresh air, or completing remote work as a research assistant for a Melbourne-based research institute.

Favourite move to teach in class?

I am a sucker for side-lying glutes! You get to rest the upper half of the body, and it may feel easy to start (particularly on a light spring) but there’s a slow building burn clients experience. I know when they start to grimace and need to hit out the working glute at the end of a sequence, that I’ve done what I needed to.
